In Miami, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Florida, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Traffic in Miami peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Nice people and nursery is much larger than it looks at first glance. Entrance can be easy to miss

I bought several dragon fruit trees a couple of years ago and the pink fruit has been great. Very friendly and reasonable prices.

Huge selection of rare plants. I picked up a curry tree and a mulberry and porter weed. They will usually drive you around in a golf cart to search what you are looking for. They take cash or debit. The staff was friendly and even came down a little in price.

The inventory was very limited for shade plants. Helpers didn't seem to know much about growing conditions for plants. Very disappointed that reality didn't match the website hype. Update: I went back to buy some red button ginger. This time the helper was more knowledgeable. The plants I bought had fallen over and were in need of attention but the price was right.

After assuming that I would find an "Anon" tree in nearby Latin plant nurseries, I was wrong. It was worth the drive to Richard Lyons plant nursery. Mr. Lyons has a huge variety of flower and fruit trees even non native ones. He rode us in his comfy cart to pick out our tree, he is knowledgeable about the plants he sells, speaks Spanish as well.
